The Pumkin lives!

Postby mytmouz » Nov 28 2009, 22:39

Got it running and been driving it around. It is a Hugger Orange 1987 S10 Blazer with a few mods consisting of a bolt on fiberglass Harwood cowl hood, Eibach lowering kit, Lakewood traction bars, Heddman shorty headers with a 3 inch dual exhaust, Borla stainless mufflers and turndowns, 3:73's with a posi unit, a fresh turbo 350 with a hard shifting shift kit, a B&M Holeshot convertor, B&M ratchet shifter, a few custom interior touches such as an overhead console and a Grant steering wheel, Sony stereo system, and lastly the engine. It is a 1962 small journal 327 bored .030, stock polished rods, with L19 bolts, an .010/.010 steel crank, Cloyes double roller timing chain, a Comp Cams 268 hydraulic flat tappet camshaft. Up top is a set of 1969 441 300 horse 350 heads with 2.02/1.6 valves, an ancient Holley dual plane factory manifold, and a 600 Holley carb. It has a large aftermarket aluminum radiator that keeps the temps at 160 after a 25 mile cruise, and I used a 1989 Firebird serpentine belt set up for the accessories. The AC is functional...

Thanks guys! And now for an update...

The local speed show was visited by me earlier this week. I ended up trading the 275 drag radials for some goodies straight across, I got a plug wire loom kit, a new set of lugnuts for the dime, and a set of Hankook 295 50 15's...

I have added a few missing interior pieces, need to update the pics one day. I also just acquired a 89 tpi camaro 700r4 tranny, going overdrive in it now. I got a cheapie stall convertor for it, and i have a lock up kit and a Fairbacks 2nd gear servo upgrade for it on the way...

Hey...that pic of the rear tire, from behind...do I see some kind of reverse lift block in there? Is that a lowering block in between the leaf spring and axle?

Yes it is, I am looking around for some lowering leafs to do away with those and drop the ride height to where i want it. The front is a Hotchkiss lowering kit, the rear has the blocks and some leafs removed from the springs, rear ride is kinda choppy on rough pavement, I want the new springs to give me the look and the ride...

I have the 700r4 tranny now, just waiting on a little warmer weather for the install. The tranny was recently built, out of a 1989 tpi Camaro. Motor went bad, I helped a friend pull the motor, he gave me the tranny. In the pic, I just finished a few upgrades. I installed the correct (hopefully) speedo gears to make the speedometer read correctly. I also installed a new tv cable that would work in a carbed apllication, a Fairbanks servo upgrade ,a one wire solenoid lock up conversion, and a fresh filter. I also have a new dipstick and a new convertor. So much for a 'free' tranny...
