3rd annual Frankensteiner's Ball today

Postby Bowtie » Oct 20 2008, 04:19

Well, what a show. I was impressed. Everyone from the club I talked to was very nice and welcoming. They had 420 registered cars and took over the entire parking lot including behind the building in the receiving areas. Looked like most of the Frank's ended up moving to the grassy areas to make more room on the paved areas. The entry fee got you a better grab bag than Car Craft too, including a coupon for a free magnetized pic of your car, some advertising stuff, a Frankie Hankie (shop rag with printing on it), a couple can coolers, and a nice dash plaque. I had my kids there, who enjoyed it a lot while they were there, plus they got candy and had some fun looking at the Halloween stuff people used for decorations on thier cars.

They had a bunch of trophy events:
**Farthest participant
**Largest club with cars entered
**Lowrider limbo-winner was a green Caddy at 47-3/4 tall (low)
**Pipe rapping-Red Chevelle came in second with the pipes capped, but should have kept the caps off to win. Winner was a yellow 40s ford. Both were very nice cars.
**Flame throwing-Only 3 entries, but all blew a foot or better flames. The winner-an F88, ejected huge clouds of fire from underneath his car. Best I've seen since the late '80s going down University near the old Montgomery Wards lot.
**Not a trophy event, but they had 100+ door prizes.

Here's some pics. It's nothing close to all the cars or the caliber of entries which ranged from WTF to WOW, I just picked some things I found interesting.

Very nice examples of the differences in car crafting.
