Back in HS in the early to mid '60's, a Buddy of mine that helped me install my 232" Stude V-8, 3-speed stick OD into my '52 Willis Areo Eagle H/T car had a '56 DeSoto w/ a 341" hemi in it! Dickie was the baby Brother of the three Brother's that ran the DX station in town!

It was funny b/c the car had a 6 foot long radio antenna on it that at about 125 mph, would bend down and ratta-tat, machine-gun sound the roof! Scared us guys when it 1st happened, but Dickie just laughed and held his foot down!

We were young, invincible and you couldn't kill us w/ a 45 back then!

Dickie later ended up trading the DeSoto in on a '60 MSHP Dodge Intercepter, two-tone, robin egg blue and white. MO has a '59 that our MSHP show's around the state even today.

There were three of these cars around, Jackie Ford's, Dickie's and Billy D's girl-friend from Macon!

Anyway, I was up at La Plata, MO chasing puntang when I came back home to Atlanta, MO that Sat night.

I saw a light out in a wheat field north of town on the old Hwy 63 and thought nothing about it, how strange??

I came into town About 10:30 AM Sunday morning the next day and there was Jackie's Intercepter back behind the DX w/ NO good pieces in/on it!

Seem's him and Billy D. got into a race heading north on the old Hwy out of town last night.

Anyway, the old road had an "S" curve in it just north of town and as I understand it, Jackie was in the left lane and on the second curve lost it at 125+ mph, endo'ing his Dodge 5 time's and rolling it twice before it stopped! That was Jackie's car's dome light upside down that I saw out in the field the last night!

He, He, Jackie ended up w/ a sore back and a scratch on his cheek. Jackie was a GOOD LOOKING DUDE like was his baby sister, lovely young girl, sweet as can be! I want to say Cherokee/Cher good looking! Jimmie Smit's GOOD LOOKING and onna the nicest guys I've known.

He later died from the big C way too early!!
