WC,

Those are so cool.
To look at many of those pieces it is hard to tell if I am looking at a magazine cover from 1961 or 2009.
AWESOME!!!!!

Thanks, Carl. You got it perfectly right, that's exactly what these flyers are intended for...today we played a benefit down at Katie's in Bacliff for a guy who got injured in a motorcycle accident. We did one set, Pee Wee was exceedingly generous with the material distribution...here's me singing with the band. L-R John, Pee Wee, Clem, Sylvester, Hank. Can't see Ronnie too good on drums and Jim on bass behind us. We had fun, it was for a good cause. Cheers, WC1

Lately I've been attracted to the poster styles from the Art Deco era. I started on this last night and I worked pretty much all day on it to change it from a Benny Goodman poster to a Pee Wee Bowen Band flyer. I completely redid the lettering using the existing lettering from the original poster. To make the "P" in Pee Wee, I took the "B" from Benny, outlined it, copied it and pasted it back onto the base layer, then I flipped it vertically and removed the bottom serif from the B...went through each letter like that. The W's are upside-down M's. It took a while but it was worth it. I also took a Count Basie poster from the 30s and redid it for Pee Wee's website, did that yesterday during the day. Sometimes a flyer will take an hour to make, sometimes I get into one that will take a day and a half to 3 days. I did a "Little Iodine" flyer last year that took 3 days. So far that one holds the record. Here are the new Pee Wee flyers, before and after. Cheers, WC1

Just finished up some stuff to go on the front page of the band's website (one at a time). First is the team of the Alberston Olds dragster in 1960. Next, I took the picture of KB being presented with a check for 50 grand at Gainesville after he made the historic 301.70 pass in '92. Last is a picture of the Cotton Club from the early part of the 20th century. Folks flip over the hot rod - retro look, and it fits the band. We're members of the Phantom Kruisers and we drive our cars to the gigs. Enjoy! WC1
