Lately I've been attracted to the poster styles from the Art Deco era. I started on this last night and I worked pretty much all day on it to change it from a Benny Goodman poster to a Pee Wee Bowen Band flyer. I completely redid the lettering using the existing lettering from the original poster. To make the "P" in Pee Wee, I took the "B" from Benny, outlined it, copied it and pasted it back onto the base layer, then I flipped it vertically and removed the bottom serif from the B...went through each letter like that. The W's are upside-down M's. It took a while but it was worth it. I also took a Count Basie poster from the 30s and redid it for Pee Wee's website, did that yesterday during the day. Sometimes a flyer will take an hour to make, sometimes I get into one that will take a day and a half to 3 days. I did a "Little Iodine" flyer last year that took 3 days. So far that one holds the record. Here are the new Pee Wee flyers, before and after. Cheers, WC1
