What's it worth??????????

Postby qtrmile2 » Jul 28 2010, 02:36

Found a 1970 Buick Skylark 350 2 barrel, auto, A/C is hooked up but not working. All original top to bottom. Very little rust anywhere, Green with green interior and a bench seat . Interior is all original with some tears in the seats. Headliner drooping and it needs paint. He is asking $3500.00. I figure I would offer him $2000.00
What do you guys think?

Base combo, unpopular color, a lower offer sounds better to me, without looking at it, I think you are on the right track...
IF you think no one cares, try missing a payment...

This is so weird, because years ago, the BOPs were the more luxury, less common cars. Now, the GM cars bringing the most $ are the bowties. Meaning that a Chevy A body (Chevelle) of the same caliber would sell for more. A half-beater '70 Chevelle that drives would sell for 4 or 5 grand, right? This guy is pretty reasonable with his asking price...or maybe I should say that it is good that he doesn't have Barret-Jacksonitis. Even if you get it for $3000, it is a steal. I agree with mytmouz, it is an odd color, and not well-optioned, so in the scheme of things shouldn't be worth too much, but $3 grand is a very respectable price. $2000 is a bit low to offer IMO, but I get nervous of someone shooing me away if I offer too low... You're real close man. If I had the $, I wouldn't pass it up.

Thanks for the info guys I really appreciate it. For me I just try to find cars I can buy and make a profit on. This car kinda caught my eye but for me to make a profit I would have to buy it right. It cost a lot of money to make these cars into something. I bought a 1971 Chevelle Malibu 350 motor, alum intake, performer rpm carb, headers. Nice wheels and tires but doesn't run and has not run since 2003. Interior is all there and in original condition. It is a numbers matching car with protect to plate. It came with a 307 which came with the car. See, I built the 350 and put it in for the guy. Then he basically let it sit. It needs paint and a new vinyl roof plus it has some wiring issues. It will make an awesome car and I paid $1500.00 for it. Now that's a hell f a deal but we have alot of work to do. So I look real hard everyday to find something I can buy cheap and make in to a diamond. I like the Buick but I have to buy it right to make money. If I get it I'll probably spend 6 to 8 grand to make it right. Then I have to sell it and make money. Plus like T said it's a base car. I don't think he will sell it for 2 grand but I can try.
