Took the new car for a little drive yesterday....

Postby BignastyGS » Sep 07 2009, 00:51

It's a total animal. I have to get used to an automatic trans and stall converter, but all in all it screams. I must have done something right as it steered very well up till the point I laid on it. I did some back and forth swerving and slow start/stop to get the new posi lubed well. Then I stood on it. The 3.90 gears set you back good. It's cool as heck to shift the manual reverse trans with a column shifter. When you are in 3rd,the shifter handle is normally where it's in low...I was happy and now I need to adjust the pushrods 1 more time to get that last tick out.Wish someone was around to take a pic,but I will take care of that soon enough.

Just wanted to let all my buddies on here know, I am alive,in good shape and have been extremely busy. I managed to put a door on the new garage, doors on my moms garage as well as got the house siding job on the end finished. These were jobs that I was hoping to have them done by summer but I actually got them done before summer actually began. Oh,and if I get the tranny oil changed and the pan gasket on as well as a new header gasket on,Me and the Maggot hit the track this Friday or possibly next Friday. I will update you all and let you know how we make out.

And ran a 13.20 with this....

Put a new set of rockers on got it back together but due to my work schedule, wasn't able to get back to the track. Thank GOD,my winter hours end this friday and I will be returning to a normal life again...But, due to my wife finishing school this June, I wont be able to play with the Buicks this summer.Although I have all the materials to finish the garage addition I planned on the back of the garage..

Thanks for the update!!!!!!!!

A 13.2 is not bad for the 1st time out.

I watched a show yesterday and they said the old 70 GS Stage 1 was the fastest production car for 1970. Needless to say I was impressed.
It ran the 1/4 faster than the LS6, Hemi or Boss powered cars. 0-60 in just over 5 seconds. :)
