Front tires

Postby qtrmile2 » Nov 19 2008, 14:20

The taller the tire you run on the front of your car/truck will help with roll out and and make it easier NOT to red light. Most tracks now a days went from filament bulbs to LED and it's easy to red light on LED lights. Run a taller tire, stage shallow and it will cut down on red lights. It helped me especially on a Pro tree.

Thanks for the tip Vince.

I also know a very skinny front helps with et overall.
It's easier to push off the line. I think a guy can pick up 2-3 tenths with a tall skinny versus a wide street tire.

I run a 26" tall tire (front). When I foot-braked it, I left as the last amber bulb was going off. Averaged a .079-.023 rt. I'll have to re-think the front tire dia now that I've switched to a trans-brake.
Because I said so !

Laws of physics come into play here, an object in motion blah blah...

Also, it would seem that a taller front might help some cars squat and plant the drive wheels too, huh?

If I set up a drag car, I'd put "pizza cutters" on the front too.
