A good weekend in Boise

Postby Chevguy65 » May 02 2010, 03:56

This weekend is our Ignitor, the first major points race of the season and NHRA records are falling like mad.

Here are the new record holders as of Friday...
NHRA NATIONAL RECORDS (established on Friday)
John Calvert, Lancaster, Calif., SS/G, 9.71, 136.36.
Mike Parmenter, Aurora, Ore., SS/P, 12.15, 109.03.
Mike Dahl, Las Vegas, Nev., GT/A, 9.30, 140.69.
Bill Edgeworth, Tacoma, Wash., L/SA, 11.97, 110.51

Now this does not include the big top fuel guys.
There may be more tomorrow and this is a surprise as the weather is crappy but it must be good for the motors because they are running some great #'s.
So far Topsportsman top qualifier has gone 6.639 seconds, 208.86 mph in a 68 Camaro, more to come.

I figure if I can't race I might as well report on those that can.

Oh guys I never went out there...LOL...$15.00 gate fee is about $15.00 more than I have to spend.
This is off their website... http://www.firebirdonline.com/index.htm
It is listed in Track News link at the top of the page.

I would like to have gone out, but besides it being to expensive for me, the weather has been cold.

Here are the new NHRA records that were set on Saturday...
NHRA National Records (Saturday)
Joe Sorenson, Woodburn, Ore., B/SA, 10.20, 129.49.
Angelo Phillips, Scottsdale, Ariz., M/SA, 11.92, 110.33.
Mike Hering, Boise, Ida., A/S, 10.30, 129.55.
Byron Setters, Red Deer, Alta., GT/CA, 9.48, 136.42.
Jim Warter, Olalla, Wash., H/A, 9.01, 150.05.
Bob Marshall, Langley, B.C., B/AA, 7.17, 190.59.

Nostalgia top fuelers qualified like this...
NOSTALGIA TOP FUEL
1) Jim Murphy, Santa Rosa, Calif., dragster, 6.019 seconds, 206.23 mph
2) Adam Sorokin, Los Angeles, Calif., dragster, 6.022, 232.07
3) Brad Thompson, Anaheim, Calif., dragster, 6.066, 230.88
4) Mike McClennan, Oakley, Calif., dragster, 6.419, 187.50
5) Randy Eakins, Carson City, Nev., dragster, 9.997, 76.23

I have seen these guys in the 5's before but usually later in the season, still 232 mph is gettin it done.
I think Rocky would have had a blast out here.
